Re: Greenway Station restaurant week, Sept 25-30

I've gotten the falafel from Freska before and it's pretty decent if you omit the cabbage slaw. However I wish they would serve it inside the pita, Banzo-style, instead of on top the pita.

Re: Roman Candle empire expands, Victor Allen's loses

Probably more a combination of high Monroe St. rents and local competition from Colectivo down the street.

Re: Tenement, Dusk, the Momotaros, The Central @ Art In 10/1

Tenement is great. I'm going to be out of town next weekend otherwise I'd be all over this. I'll just have to settle for seeing them with Direct Hit! in November.

Re: Your new favorite beer

I've been on a Mosaic hop kick for a while now. Revolution's Mosaic Hero, Pipeworks' The Lizard King, Karben4's Dragon Flute, Founders' Mosaic Promise, I'm really digging that shit. Vintage has a wine barrel-aged sour Belgian spiced ale on right now called Time & Tide. It's their Sarsaparilla Ki...

Re: Taste of Madison

When we were setting up our tailgate on Saturday the guy that brought the food realized he forgot all his condiments, so we ended up trading beers for mustard with a few of our neighbors. I also brought a block of cave-ripened lager brick thinking I'd offer a few slices of this especially pungent ch...

Re: LSU

Those of you who attended, how much did it cost for tickets and parking? Must have been a fortune. Tickets were $91 and we bought them via the UW ticket office. In a strange turn of events I actually paid slightly more per ticket at Rutgers two years ago thanks to dynamic pricing. As I recall the g...

I haven't been there yet but I've been told they don't have the brewing operation up and running, so it's all guest taps at the new location for now.

Re: McFarland or Fitchburg

From what little I do know, Fitchburg calls to mind vast tracts of vinyl boxes. I'm sure there must be a central village, but I've never been able to find it. Actually, no. The closest thing might be McKee Farms Park since that's where they have their Fitchburg Days & Festa Italia and it's near...

Re: Beer week 2016

I really liked Parched Eagle's Gluten Tolerant Wheat Wine. It was my favorite non-IPA of the day.

I tried a good number of sours but I never quite hit on one that I was overly impressed with. Maybe mixing up the styles put me in a bad spot for drinking them.

Re: "Brown Sugar" needs to be banned!

Speaking of the PMRC, I found a repress of this classic EP a couple years back. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/69/NOFX_-_The_P.M.R.C._Can_Suck_on_This_re-release_cover.jpg Wikipedia tells me the original version had Tammy Faye Baker pegging Jim as the cover.

Re: Your last five beers

I've been meaning to get over to Rockhound myself. A few friends went right after they opened but I was out of town. I brought back a few beers from Illinois after a work trip to Schaumburg last week. Pipeworks Brewing's The Lizard King, a Mosaic Pale Ale, has been my favorite so far. I also liked M...

Re: Gas station shootings

Not only that, the restaurant was "packed" at that time. The food must be fantastic. Unfortunately, crowds don't always indicate good food. Chili's at West Town has a full parking lot every time I drive by. Also, how many places are open til 3am? Not many so the short supply could lead to...

Re: Chicago scared us off

I went down to the Art Institute yesterday with my folks. We took the Metra down from Crystal Lake - $8.50 per person per trip plus $1.50 to park all day. The Crystal Lake station is further than Harvard but it has more options for trains, including the 6:00 rush hour express that we took on our ret...
