Re: John Paul Stevens on the Second Amendment

Personally, I would rather see the Second Amendment go the way of Prohibition, but I find his discussion interesting. Allow me to gently suggest that Prohibition of guns will be just as effective as Prohibition of alcohol. While I agree with your sentiment, there's a bit of a contradiction in terms...

Re: Solidarity Singers Arrested

Arresting children, politicians, grandmothers, veterans, and reporters will outweigh one guy taking a dive on camera, I suspect. Oh ya, I figured when then backed off the viewers last week, common sense might prevail, but clearly not. Not a flattering picture of the profession. no, not at all. Out ...

Re: The Trayvon Martin & George Zimmerman Story

The defense is heard when the prosecution is done laying out its case. Isn't that how it usually works? At one point, they said they thought the case might go to the jury by the end of this week. Not sure if they're still on that timeline or not. Defense will probably rest tomorrow . Not soon enoug...

Re: I quit Facebook

For the summer, at least. I wrote a column about it for the newspaper where I work now, The Mountain Press of Sevierville, Tenn. When did this happen? I knew you you're-all-Middle-Tennessee, but if you find East Tennessee less familiar terrain I have extended family all over the area--Sevierville, ...

mel, floyd, pants tunnel bob? I think not, transcends the category. stu! Sheppy loiters nearby, unremarked. Meade, clearly. & his muted band of grumping trolls. ID-ing characters requires an investment of some time, so ya notice the behavior patterns that otherwise don't stand out. e.g., keedo, ...

Re: Free lawn advice from your friend Meade

Enforcing standards for maintaining an attractive yard is a double-edged lawn mower blade. Whether ye sow wild oats or buzz-cut your turfgrass within an inch of its life--your own personal preference just isn't a license for taking issue with somebody else's business on somebody else's land. Or thei...

I'm not convinced the impact on businesses will be negative. ... So the businesses on Sherman are primarly geared towards serving commuters. Data, please. This proposal will dramatically lower the number of commuters on Sherman, by design, and the majority of those businesses will be gone within a ...

Re: Clean Water Act Violations by Bad River Chippewa

"In Wisconsin, the Bad River had the highest number of violations between 2004 and 2008 - 241." Bill Williams and Doright_Dudley are attempting to poison our water. Bad River is working to clean up the water, and working to protect the watershed. Bad River Population: ~7,000 Milwaukee Are...

Re: Clean Water Act Violations by Bad River Chippewa

Is that photo from the Bad River Band wastewater treatment facility discharge? It's from a G-Tac/Tom Tiffany - type project. The pic is of the iron disulfide--pyrite category of Acid Mine Drainage that will be generated by Bill Williams' mine on both sides of the Penokee Hills. Where's your environ...

Re: Clean Water Act Violations by Bad River Chippewa

http://www.peterscreek.org/PetersCreekWatershed/BaratiTrib/LickRunTribBarati.jpg Interesting photo. A little googling suggests that it's showing acid mine drainage in one of the tributaries of Peters Creek in western Pennsylvania. Indeed it is. While there are distinctions to be made with our site-...
