Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

[quote="Henry Vilas"] Moms fight back. The Moms Demand Nonsense group of course is just one of Bloomberg's fake "grassroots organizations" that claims membership numbers from how many "likes" it got on Facebook. (Under 200,000... far fewer than the millions of verifiabl...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

Can you share your opinion of who actually pays the costs when grandfather passes down the shotgun, or are you going keep demanding I answer stuff that has been repeatedly addressed many times before? Oh for fucks sake! Is grandpa meeting his daughter at a gunshow to make the exchange and charging ...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

I probably am, because I believe our rights evolve and change over time in response to changing conditions areound us.... If anything, rights come from humans making a statement of them. Given that we're all both fallible and bound by our worldly context, there's no reason to think the rights we st...

Correct. Usually they're carrying a whip.

Does that mean that background checks by licensed dealers should also be abolished? For most of the country's history there was no such thing. Can't really see where it has improved anything, do you? Please expound on the great success of the program, Henry. We are paying for it after all, show tha...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

In other words, a natural right is something I want because I want it. That definitely applies to gun policy. It's not sufficient as a legal principle. Actually it is sufficient as a legal principle, since it is the fundamental principle upon which this country was founded, including the country's ...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

Just answer one question. The one you've avoided since the beginning of this debate. Is the intention of the 2nd amendment to provide for the safety and security of the people and/or state, yes or no? Be honest for once, K? That's precious, jonny. I have avoided addressing the intention of the Seco...

Re: Population: too high, or too low?

And I understand Texas has very liberal gun laws... Alright, I'll take the bait since I wouldn't want to disappoint you. No... New York does. And it's for the worse too. Texas gun laws are in many respects nothing like the common public perception. I prefer Wisconsin's over Texas. But to repeat mys...

Re: Police Reports

I found belonging to a neighborhood email group to be very helpful. If there is a scammer going around, it makes the neighborhood news. One thing I miss about the old days is, it seems like everything was in the paper. Now I have to go to multiple sources. That would make for a rather thick edition...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

Gun manufacturers HAVE taken the lead. It is hard to find a manufacturer that doesn't include gun locks included with the gun, if there isn't a locking system incorporated into the gun itself. Yes, injury caused by negligent or reckless handling of a firearm can result in prosecution. I don't know a...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

Thought I'd post this here. Dane County just had a referendum regarding the legalization of marijuana. Be aware that state legalization of marijuna doesn't change things on the federal level. While legal under state law in those states that have legalized marijuana, federal law prohibits the users o...

Thanks Stu, that is much more comprehensive, but again, neither of the incidents I described are listed there. Wonder why? They both seemed to be pretty major incidents. One, it looks like it's about 2 months behind on data entry and two, are the incidents of interest to you within the City of Madi...

Re: Police Reports

In other words there is no way to get a complete list of all crimes within any given time window. What we get is what they want us to get. Even a constant monitoring of police broadcasts would not give us a confirmable, complete list Well I get the impression that new reporters do look at some sort...
