Re: Anthony Bourdain

What's your real name Beaver, so we can falsely attribute characteristics to you after you die based on a name you had no role in choosing. You're the worst.

I'm guessing this was aimed at me. If you disagree with what I posted, why not just explain why?

It was not. It was directed at the horrifyingly blinkered and perhaps unintentionally hideous Beaver.

Sorry Madsci, apparently my intended jokey tone didn't carry. Saying that all beef is flavorless seemed like an odd position to stake out.

Close. I'd say it's more like treating all food with respect.

Re: Mad burger week, June 8-15

Well then just use a dab of plain yogurt instead of the traditional condiments. I was referring to the piles of stuff that is common on today's burgers, such as bacon, cheese, onions, mushrooms etc. "Today's burgers" -- whew, that sounds reeeal old, Madsci. Regardless, good beef has plent...

Dexter's has an Impossible burger too. Pretty sure there are more in Madison that aren't coming to mind.

Re: Cowboy Jack's

To me, that looks like a Great Dane with slightly different furniture and wagon wheel lamps. So either the Dane should have been there first, or they knew enough not to try. Maybe to you, but to me that looks nothing like the Dane. Great Dane interior design is English pub with a very light touch o...

Re: Coffee causing cancer

Thanks p, everything intended to be humorous is funnier when it's explained Like this: Many California coffee shops have already posted warnings that say acrylamide is cancer-causing chemical found in coffee. But signs that are supposed to be posted at the point of sale are often found in places not...

Re: Madison Craft Beer Week

I am still working on my appreciation of sours. Are the bottles to be sold at funk factory worthwhile? While FFG's beers are typically excellent, many are not what I'd call entry level. If you're still getting used to the general style, I would recommend trying some Meerts variants on tap at the Ta...

If a frites-only shop wanted to open up in the old Cortadito (RIP) window at the Nomad, I think it could slay. But dine-in for frites is an option no one in Madison is clamoring for.
