Re: Al Franken: Step Right Up! It's Your Turn!

i recall the awful spectre of misogyny being raised within 10 days of his announcing for senate the first time around -- some d f l folks categorically refused to vote for him, it was quite the topic at the politburo of the m n i p for a short time, the n c c l wouldn't touch him with a 10 metre ca...

Re: Reformation 500th anniversary

Attended the service you mentioned. Lots more joking around between the officiants than 500 years ago, I am guessing.

Great song - written about Louise Post from Veruca Salt, who he supposedly dumped via long distance call so that he could go out with Winona Ryder.

Re: Good Fellas and Ideology

I despise the sorting of politics into two teams, largely devoid of independent thought, as much as anybody. I also think that the situation has regressed to the point where defeat of the opposite side is the most desired outcome for some partisans, as opposed to implementing their own ideas. But I ...

Re: Brennan's closing in September

Yeah, pretty sure they just mean using existing space differently than before, not subdividing. Perhaps you missed the detail about adding "a deli with prepared foods and in-store seating." That will use up some real estate. Looking forward to this. I had been taking Brennan's for granted...

Re: Brennan's closing in September

Interesting that they say it will be smaller. I would think that subdividing that particular store would be problematic. (unless they are just talking about the store space that is being changing from Wine/Beer to deli) For me it was always about fruit, then veggies, and occasionally some cheese. My...

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

Kelley, a former U.S. Air Force airman, had a string of legal troubles beginning at least in 2012. That year, he was court-martialed and sentenced to a year in military prison for assaulting his wife and child, Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek told The Washington Post. We really should look into ...

Re: Texas church

It sounds like the Air Force dropped the ball and did not report his bad conduct discharge correctly, which would have then flagged him as not being allowed to purchase weapons.

Re: Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun?

We shouldn't talk about gun control while we're mourning the deaths of people who've died of gunshot wounds. Which means we're never going to talk about gun control. I don't own guns and don't have an issue with adding additional rigor around purchasing them. But I also am not naive enough to think...

Re: Kevin Spacey

So should Kevin Spacey forfeit his career for making a pass at a fourteen year old? He is welcome to continue to act - he just might have to act in community theater, or you know, get a real career like the rest of us schlubs. He is just going to have a harder time making wheelbarrows full of money...

Re: Kevin Spacey

The amount of control/power that a few people have seems to be the big factor. If you are an accountant and get harassed, there are many other jobs available. But people in movies/theater/tv are aware that there are 10,000 people that dream of having their job, yet the industry is small enough that ...

I wonder if men who don't know how to ask are also lousy in bed? It seems the good ones are good at asking and good at it. If you are talking about pickup lines, I would wager that the reason some men try it is because they have seen it work. The problem is, it is normally attractive guys having su...

They've b*tched about apartments, football games at Edgewood, a couple of floors on a hotel, restaurants preparing food, etc. Ugh. I went on their website, and saw the insane list of questions they had about Edgewood and their football field/track. It is the "I'll bet if we ask enough question...

Re: The Giant Wagstaff CD Listening Project Thread

LED ZEPPELIN -- I dunno if these guys will ever achieve anything resembling mainstream success but I dig'em. And by that I mean, yep, listened to all my Zeppelin. If you want more, speak now or forever (or just a real short time) hold your peace. Okay, I for one want to see your entirely off-base r...
