Re: House hunting

Note that that's also in Racine. Madison also has a Lathrop St I think.

He's mentioned in the listing copy. I'd skipped right over that part.

Re: House hunting

My girlfriend would probably agree as she would wonder how in the world we're going to dust all of it. I'm thinking once or twice a year you open all the windows, set up some fans and go over it with one of those big propane torches people use to kill weeds.

Re: House hunting

It's in Racine. And maybe worth the move. $199.9 MCM palace   Wow. The stone. The wood. And even some carpeting! Serious;y, for my taste that's maybe the best place I've seen in Wisconsin. All that multi-clored stone! It's everywhere! You might spend that much on the masons alone if you were buil...

Re: Rats

I kinda want to go check out the Goodman compost pile now. Maybe at night with my atomic beam TV flashlight.

Re: House hunting

Oh you couldn't miss the water buffalo. And I'm sure brave hunter could not have missed it either, as it was probably standing in the water getting a drink when he shot it.

Rats

Been hearing a lot of talk about the seemingly growing rat problem on the near east side. There was a story published awhile back about a homeowner on Union St behind Burger King who discovered an actual "rats nest" in his backyard, which was then traced to an improperly sealed dumpster at...

Getting back to ripping on other people's taste.. http://www.starkhomes.com/property/116768053/1490-Hwy-82-Springville-WI-53965-8952 I'm not sure if this spread comes with several dozen dead animals or not but just the bad mojo that must be hovering around those rooms would be enough to turn me away...

Re: House hunting

Yes, I looked at the interior pics and thankfully that eased the pain a little. Beard called the kitchen for sure. I'm guessing one of the rooms with the fluorescent lights was Kaeser's home studio but that doesn't really forgive a second room, or fluorescent lights in general. It's the outside and ...

Re: House hunting

I knew where this house was but you can't see much of it from the street. William Kaeser's personal residence in Shorewood. I had hoped to be more successful by the time it came up for sale. But no. I can't even really look at it. I hate being poor. http://www.starkhomes.com/property/118243373/3407-...

Re: House hunting

I think I'd have to live with the inefficiency of those windows because nothing new is going to look that good. The whitewash flippers would put in two narrow casement windows and drywall over the fireplace. On this second look I just realized that funky pattern in the second bath is actually tile. ...

Re: House hunting

Okay, I kinda love that house! I don't even mind the galley kitchen, that's what we have now. You just need to inve$t in a counter-depth fridge to so it doesn't stick out like that. And maybe get rid of that strange mansard roof looking decoration above the cooktop. Not sure what that would be for? ...

Re: House hunting

I didn't catch that curb on the floor in the pink bathroom. And two showers. WTF is going on in there? The tub wouldn't have been moved (most likely) so the back by the new shower probably wasn't a shower area. But why a curb step-in if you have a tub? It does look like an original tile floor which ...

Re: House hunting

This one could be an okay middle-of-the-road mid century house once you pulled up all that plush carpeting (there's usually nice hardwood underneath in a 1962 house) I'm torn on the whole carpet subject. The idea of hardwood floors, having them and admiring them, and living with hardwood floors are...
