Re: Al Franken: Step Right Up! It's Your Turn!

I can totally see a bunch of Russians at a troll farm.

"SNL has treated Putin badly, let's find pictures of Franken and see the Rs and alt-right explode."

Re: Al Franken: Step Right Up! It's Your Turn!

I am disappointed with Al Franken's behavior. I am not upset with the things they said while spit-balling for SNL skits. And the picture you posted Al is definitely not touching Tweeden in any way. The sad thing to me is Ned seems to think that kissing someone is the moral equivalent to taking a 14...

Re: Good Fellas and Ideology

I was listening to WPR the other day and the subject came up. The guest made the point that it is "relatively easy" for wealthy actress to make the offenses known. Someone making $15/hour who needs the job isn't going to tell someone that her manager showed her his penis. The guest said th...

Re: Good Fellas and Ideology

Both sides do it, ymbj? The latest examples of D doing creepy things is Weiner and Spitzer. The vast majority of Ds are happy that Weiner is now in jail and wouldn't vote for him. We have a R who is/did creepy horrible things and it seems like most of the Rs for a while supported him (most still do ...

Re: GOP tax scheme Official Thread

The IRS can reclassify any business that is feels is not being run with a profit motive as a "hobby". You cannot deduct hobby losses on your tax return. So if you put your personal residence in a pass-through business the IRS will disallow any losses that it generates. Well, to be fair, t...

Or, he may not.

Glad that Corey Clement is doing well. But predicting Super Bowls at this point in the season is pretty silly.

Also, we've known for some time that they're planning on ending the deduction for state and local taxes. But ... it turns out they're only hitting the "little people" with that: [People with] pass-through businesses—lawyers, hedge funds, etc.—not only get a super-special tax rate of only ...

Re: GOP tax scheme Official Thread

I forgot the other big one that isn't related to income tax. Repeal of the estate tax, phased in until total repeal in 2024. Of course because of all of this is being done by reconciliation, if it real passes Congress and the Senate, the bill can only be in effect for 10 years. So in 2028 everything...

Re: GOP tax scheme Official Thread

I was just a tax conference last week and got a run down on the tax bill. Some interesting points: 1. AMT would be repealed 2. Mortgage interest deduction on 1st $500,000 in debt on your home, anything extra is non-deductible 3. You can set-up a Sec 529 - College Savings Plan for your unborn child o...

Re: Why Doesn't Trump Shut Down Russian Uranium Mine?

So you don't agree with the Republican criticism of Russian ownership in the uranium mine? Please clarify. No, I don't agree with Russian partial ownership of a mine, and wish the Dems responsible were punished. Clear enough? Now the horse is out of the barn, water is over the damn. Now again, your...
