Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself. Basically, it's made up of two separate words — "mank" and "ind." What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Re: East Washington..... anything coming?

I'm glad there's a real store downtown, but it's not my store. Not yet, anyway. My husband is going to give it a try. If he likes it, and if selection improves, maybe I'll make my way back. UPDATE : I've turned the corner on Festivus. It's now my go-to store. Pleasant walk if I don't have much to c...

All right, Cap'n, I'll bow out after my scant handful of posts so you can continue to suck the air out of this thread unimpeded.

Re: Judy Faulkner's Incredible Pledge

If you won't read my old posts, which have the answers to the questions, why do you waste everyone's time asking the same questions over and over and over? The answers to your questions have already been posted. If you read those posts and still have questions, feel free to ask. Of course I went ba...

Re: Judy Faulkner's Incredible Pledge

If you were to go back and look at my earlier posts on this thread, [ed. note: no thanks] I mentioned exactly which provisions in the non-compete were illegal , and what tactics Epic used to enforce this agreement. HINT: They didn't use the courts, because they would lose. They used strong arm tact...

Re: Judy Faulkner's Incredible Pledge

I did also mention a probably illegal clause in the non-compete agreement. I am not sure if that agreement is still in force, but I did see the incredible hardship that caused some of my neighbors in the past. You're not doing your cause any favors with that one. Like it or not, non-competes are st...

Re: The Animal Most Likely to Kill

Source: https://wonder.cdc.gov/ So they say. I call bullshit on the World's Deadliest Regions chart. The 12th deadliest animal in the US, right below mountain lion, is the... house centipede? The whole thing appears to be some sort of elaborate clickbait for Man vs. Beast. Wonder how good a living ...

Re: House hunting

I've seen predominantly white interiors that I liked but the draw of mid-century modern to me is the wood and the stone. Same here. The wood and the stone, I mean. I'm dreaming about wood walls for our kitchen/cannibalized DR. (And I have seen white that I like... but it takes a lot of discipline t...

Re: House hunting

White makes a place look larger and less cluttered. Generally: nope. I'll grant you slipcovers. If you think your furniture's ugly but it's functional and reasonably shapely, then yeah, the right cover can work wonders. Works well if you have a lot of art. Again: nope. And I say that as somebody wh...

Re: House hunting

Named MCM palace AND a bomb shelter! You're killing me here! I hate your niece. I'm guessing she's out in Palm Springs. Probably bought Bob Hope's old place. http://www.luxuryportfolio.com/Property/palm-springs-properties-palm-springs-bob-and-dolores-hope-estate/MRJQ Yeah, I'd hate her, too, if I d...

Re: House hunting

Dickenson St. ? Spaight, up near the top. Anyone on here have a bomb shelter in the backyard? My niece recently bought a midcentury palace (it has a name, for crying out loud) that has a bomb shelter, nice enough for parties/sleepovers. Well, I suppose they usually are, if you were supposed to live...

Re: Judy Faulkner's Incredible Pledge

Amen to that! You're amen-ing that editorial? I am amening the gist of the Beaver's post, not necessarily every word his post, or every word of every link. No need to prickle — I was asking, not accusing. The rest of your post made the rest of your opinions clear, I thought. And now you've repeated...

Re: Judy Faulkner's Incredible Pledge

I dunno... I live next to an Epic couple, and work with several Epic spouses. The Epic kids work a lot less than I did in my first few years of agency life, for a LOT more money. And killer airline status.

Re: House hunting

Unfortunately it's been whitewashed. Every single interior MCM detail is either gone or painted white. They even had the nerve to give it an orange door, fooling you into thinking the inside might have a little verve. http://www.starkhomes.com/property/55908179/309-Del-Mar-Dr-Maple-Bluff-WI-53704 I...

Re: House hunting

I could see a modernist addition on the back with lots of glass and deck space overlooking the lake. And a garage. And a tunnel down to the lakeshore. Tunnels are so fucking cool. Ooh, yes to all! Wanna go halvesies? We'd have to tunnel through the UW Lifesaving bunker, though. Which would be a sel...
