Re: Walker wants a single payer health system for state work

huckleby is right, the only real change is in the funding mechanism. Instead of paying for a policy that insurers may or may not get the true value out of, self-insured companies pay only for the services that their employees actually consume. The real tragedy is buying unnecessary insurance policie...

Re: End Concerts on the Square now!

Well, that was one of the most entertaining threads in recent memory. The forum had become really boring, even for a lurker like me. Thanks for the fun!

Re: End Concerts on the Square now!

Parks are for people. Parks are for trees, other vegetation and animals. People are just guests. Actually, people are animals too. People have the same right to be in a particular spot as any other organism. I accept your earnestness as sincere, so I will refrain from mocking and hope others do as ...

You really need to relax, although I'm finding your rant quite entertaining. Trees are not a finite resource, they literally grow on, well, trees.

Thank you Lorax, but the trees will be fine. Or they won't.

Re: Ale Asylum

We were there with friends a few weeks ago and found it "OK". The pizzas are pre-fab, and a little pricey for what they are, but again, you're not going for the food. We were disappointed that many of the beers were out, although that's to be expected. Similarly, service may not be there t...

Re: Brookfield spa isn't relaxing

I'm not seeing what you and the others are upset about. Mass shootings and gun control are very political. That is why there is a 50 page gun control discussion here. Brookfield and Oak Creek are very Republican cities. Yes mass shootings can happen anywhere but in WI it seems like more of a Republ...

Re: Nile Restaurant

Thanks for the reiminder about this place- it's pretty out of the way and easy to overlook. I'm very fond of Bunky's hummus, I think theirs is the best in town. Too bad there's no witty way to propose a 'hummus-off'.

He was so bad, it was uncomfortable. I can't even bring myself to make fun it him. I did find his assertion that Hollywood was full of conservative types somewhat interesting.

I didn't realize Obama had such a potty mouth, however.

Re: Isthmus, sex toys and Metcalfe's

Anyway, what's so wrong with prudery? Nothing. But note that sadiekat isn't trying to force her prudery on others. She's not picketing Isthmus or demanding they be silenced or proposing laws and constitutional amendments so that no one will have to gaze upon such filth again. She just turned the ne...

Re: Isthmus, sex toys and Metcalfe's

Super-liberal woman here, who finds herself keeping this week's issue of Isthmus upside-down. It's a little much for me, speaking primarily as a mom. Of course, maybe I'm a closet prude, as I recently, ahem, 'edited' an issue of Men's Health before handing it to my teenage son last week.

Re: Eye care and veterinarian recs for low-income people

One thought for eye care would be to check Shopko and/or Walmart, assuming that your needs are pretty routine. Both of these stores offer decent pricing on hardware (glasses/contacts), etc., and are priced for mass-market, not boutique services. I'd second the Humane Society as a resource for vet ca...

Re: madison.com limits viewing

I did cancel, or technically speaking, not renew, my print subscription the other day. As I was looking at the renewal notice, the subscription fee for the online site just seemed more and more absurd. The girl in the subscription department was nice, although not at all surprised when she found out...
